The League In Focus: An Update After Week 9

After another week of Edinburgh Bowling Association action for the Northern both Gents teams managed to pick up victories to keep their seasons on track as the first team won 7-2 at home to league leaders Corstorphine while the 2nds won 5-4 away to Brunstane. Meanwhile, our ladies team had a 5-0 defeat in their fixture at home to Corstorphine but I’m sure it was still a valuable experience that will stand them in good stead for the future

The 1st team win means they still have a chance at promotion if they can keep on getting these wins, and while the 2nd XVI have had their lead at the top cut down slightly, they are still top and with a good chance of winning the title if they can also just keep getting points on the board. As for the matches themselves, in the 1sts it was the Gordon Wilson Jnr rink who were the ones to lose, while in the 2nds it was the Mike Drummond and Jim Prentice rinks who got the wins

Next Wednesday our gents 1st XVI are at home to new league leaders Summerside, while our 2nd XVI have a free week which means that they may find themselves in 2nd place by the time they return to action, but they’ll still have a game in hand and can do it! The ladies will be away to Summerside on Monday night
