Last night saw the finals of the club singles Championships take place and for the first time in the clubs history we hosted both mens and womens finals at the same time, on the same night
For the gents it was Gordon Wilson Jnr vs Andy Reid, and with both having won the competition three times before, the stakes were high
Gordon raced into an early lead before Andy pegged it back but with Gordon lying on match point for a few ends in a row, his victory seemed inevitable and he did end up winning 21-14
In the ladies final it was Fiona vs Julie and it was Fiona who took the Championship with a fairly dominant 21-3 win
There was a good crowd down and it was great to see both finals given the same level of exposure. Spirits were also still high after the clubs recent league double
Well done again to the winners and hard lines Julie and Andy, but I’m sure you’ll be back in finals again
