It’s been a historic Edinburgh Bowling Association league season for the Northern gents teams as for the first time since 2010 both XVI managed to win their respective divisions 🏆🏆
The 1st XVI won 6-3 away to Leith, which combined with Summersides 7-2 defeat away to Goldenacre Bowling Club, saw them jump up from 2nd to get on top of the table for the very first time all season, but on the day when it matters.
Meanwhile, the 2nd XVI went into their match at home against London Road Foundry knowing that what they needed to guarantee the title was a 5-4 win, and if there were any nerves going into the match then they certainly never showed as they ended up with a romping 9-0 victory and a shot difference of 52
A massive well done to everyone who took part this year and even if you only made 1 or 2 appearances, it still all counts and it helped and you can be proud of yourself. The club’s done a double!
It’s also the culmination of a couple of years worth of work from the backroom team and the committee who’ve worked tirelessly to get more people interested in the sport, to keep the club going, and to try to get us back to the glory days, and well done to everyone involved behind the scenes as well as the players themselves. Let’s use this momentum going forward into next season!
But of course, this year isn’t quite done yet and we still have the internal club championship finals, starting with our gents and ladies Championship finals this Friday night to look forward to as well as having our senior team still involved in three competitions
So let’s keep bowling, and see you all down at the club!
