The League In Focus: An Update After Week 7

After another night of Edinburgh Bowling Association action for the Northern there were contrasting fortunes between our two gents teams again but this time it was the 1sts who picked up a 7-2 win at home vs Leith while the 2nds lost 6-3 away to London Road Foundry. Meanwhile, our ladies team were in action on Monday night and they managed to get themselves another point after a 4-1 defeat away to Colinton

The 1st team result puts them back into potential promotion contention if they can have a better 2nd half of the season. While the defeat for the 2nds cuts their lead at the top of their division, but they do still remain on top by 4 points at what is officially the halfway mark.

It was a tough evening away from home though as they suffered their first defeat of the season, with the Jim Bathgate rink of himself, Robbie Paterson, Kenny Lawrence and Ally Mitchell being the only one to get a win (28-6) while the Allan Mitchell skipped rink managed peels (14-14)

On a cold evening in Colinton on Monday, our ladies managed to get another point on the board after our Sylvia Watson skipped rink had peels at 19-19 while the Carolyn Young skipped rink were unlucky to lose 11-13.

The gents league now takes a break for a week as the focus turns to cheering on Scotland at the Euros but hopefully we’re all in form when the league commences again on the 26th June. Surprisingly, the ladies league isn’t taking a break, don’t shoot the messenger. But coincidentally our ladies do have their free week happening so they won’t be back playing until 24th June

And remember, on Saturday, at 2pm, we have a ladies rink in their Bowls Scotland District Final on the path to Ayr. They’re playing at Craigentinny Bowling Club, vs Craigentinny Bowling Club, and it’d be great if you could go and cheer them on if you can!
