Garry Harrison and John Urquhart played out a very tight Senior Championship final today in the August sunshine
Current EBA President Garry got off to a flyer, starting the match strong and being 6-1 up after 4 ends before John won the next end, took up the mat & shortened the Jack to win the next 7 ends to turn it around and go 10-6 up.
Garry nicked the next end, put the Jack back to his length, and went on to win the majority of the following ends until they came to peels at 14 each.
The next few ends stayed very tight and a little scrappy but around the 22nd end Garry picked up a very valuable 3 while rolling away from the club and was fortunate enough to close the game out at 21-17.
The match was played in the very best of spirits, as expected, with both players being respectful of each others well played bowls and showing camaraderie throughout. Northern spirit stayed true.
A massive well done to both players just for reaching the final in a very competitive seniors section and a big congratulations to Garry on winning.
