It was another big night for our ladies team last Friday as they took part in the annual ladies edition of the Edinburgh Cup for the very first time up against a Bainfield side that included last years winners at Ayr
With three triples on display, that aforementioned champion team did run away with their game in what must have been a tricky night for our ladies playing against them but as with everything it’s all good experience and it was great seeing the teams get along and share tips and tricks etc
But it was all to play for on the other two rinks as two really tight, nip and tuck, games ensued and the stakes were raised even further when the rink skipped by Carolyn Young managed to get themselves a 12-10 victory to be the first ones off the green.
And that did set up a tense finale as our Fiona Ord skipped rink found themselves 2 shots down going into the final end, but with a chance to trail the white and take a 3, then nab a victory, with their final bowl. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be on this occasion as the shot just missed the jack by a matter of millimetres, but for us to take a team as established as Bainfield down to the very last bowl in our debut season is really magnificent. Well played everyone! And we’ll be back stronger next year!
