A Historic First Two Points for the Northern Ladies

There may have been mixed fortunes for our ladies rinks in their Edinburgh Bowling Association match at home vs Summerside Bowling Club last night but with one team picking up a victory they did manage to grab themselves an important 2 points to get themselves off the mark for the season

The rink of Jade, Julie and Fiona, skipped by Carolyn, built themselves an early dominant lead of 13-2 in a barnstorming start, and while Summerside did start to pull things back leading to a nervous final couple of ends, our team did stay strong to come away with a 19-16 victory for the first points in the clubs history

Things were trickier on the rink of Michele, Tracey and Gill, skipped by Dawn as Summerside were the ones to build a big lead early on and they managed to hold onto it but their players were on top form and very experienced, and it ended 8-29

What was a real delight to see was how our ladies and the opposition were always chatting, and laughing, and once the Summerside score on their winning rink was so high that they couldn’t be clawed back they even started giving some tips and advice to our own ladies, and it was really all quite wholesome.

Our ladies team are growing, and getting better all the time, and it’s great to see one of their rinks win and I know that there will be many more wins in the future

Their next fixture is at home again to our traditional friends from Seafield next Monday night at 645pm and it would be great to see as many people as possible down to cheer them on again

Meanwhile, as the ladies played on rinks 4 & 5, the Gents Rink Club Championships Semi-Finals were happening over on rinks 1 & 3 and it was an unlucky night for the teams skipped by Walter Murray and Ian Miller as they fell to teams skipped by Gordon Wilson Jr and Mike Drummond

That sets up a thrilling final for next Monday night with a 645pm start – See you all down there?
