A tough season in the top tier continued last night as our 1st XVI went down 7-2 at home to Sighthill Bowling Club in Edinburgh Bowling Association league action. But with the fixture list weighted towards home fixtures between now and Autumn they’re still more than in it and battling away. Well done to Euan Craig’s rink for the 2 points last night. Next week they’re at home vs The Queensberry Bowling Club
Meanwhile the 2nd XVI picked up their 4th win in a row with a 7-2 victory away at Goldenacre Bowling Club. Shoutout to Andrew Mckenzie who joined us through our Try Bowls day and who’s now been on a rink that’s won 7 weeks in a row, skipped by Davey Reid. Next Wednesday it’s away to Summerside Bowling Club
On paper it looks like a negative week for the ladies and of course a 5-0 loss isn’t ideal but I watched their match vs Maitland on Monday and one rink had their match go down to the very final bowl, which the Maitland skip played magnificently. While the other rink were leading heavily at one stage only to then lose narrowly. The results aren’t quite going our ladies way at the moment but their performances are solid and still improving all the time as we try to grow that section of the club. Next up, it’s away to Carrick Knowe Bowling Club
