What an incredible year for the Famous Northern, 1st 16s 2nd Div Champions & now to top it all off by winning the top 10 Championship for the 1st time after defeating Postal, Gorgie Mills, Leith, Carricknowe & now in the final Parkside put to the sword after a top class final display by our top 10 Toppers.
Starting of in the singles was Dazzling Dazza our singles star man this year playing against Davie Fisher, Parksides Tait trophy runner-up this year , what a match this proved to be, it was only 1 or 2 shots almost every end, with the lead changing hands almost every other end, fish managed to get a couple of shots ahead at 10-7, Daz picked up a full house to go 10-11 up, back to 1s and 2s & Fish squeezed ahead again at 20-16 and to be honest this would have been a great result, but our Darren is made of stronger stuff these days & got back to 20-20, again Fish showed his class & with his 1st bowl got a front toucher, Darren had to drive at the bowl with his 1st 2 bowls missing narrowly, but his 3rd drive skiffed the shot bowl just enough to be able to leave the jack in the open, Fish tried to draw a closer shot but was not near enough, last bowl for Daz was close but just a foot or so heavy giving Parkside the singles victory and 2 points but what a brilliant game, take a bow young man you’ve more than played your part, Big well done Darren.
Our Pair was Euan Craig & Jamie Reid, but at 6am on the morning off the game Euan was pretty sure he would not be playing his part as he had been up most of the night with a stomach bug & his head down the loo pan, however after a couple of hours sleep & some painkillers Euan pulled himself together & managed to make the start, against a decent Parkside pair, Jamie & Euan were on top right from the start and managed to open up a decent gap, Parkside managed to claw some shots back & at about the 12th end it was 10-12 for the Northern, again our troops rallied & ran out comfortable winners, 2 points in the bag & quite a few shots to the good also.
Big well done to our Perfect Pair.
Our Top Triple was lead by Jim Prentice, Andy Reid & skipped by Super experienced Ian Miller, again our Triple got off to a great start and didn’t take their foot off the pedal all our three played very well together & again won out comfortable winners , another 2 points in the bag and again more shots to the good by our terrific trio,

Lastly but not least was our rink of Garry Harrison AKA ( Gerry Harrison ) after the Top 10 Pres misreading his name on the sheet much to all the Northern boys amusement, 2nd was Big George Prentice, 3rd was John Urquhart & skipped by Club Champ Gordon Wilson jnr, we started off well enough with a couple of shots either way, on the 8th end with scores close & the Northern lying 3 the Parkside skip decided drive full out getting the maximum result from 3 down to 3 up edging them slightly into the lead, this seemed to give us the kick up the backside we needed, looking over at the other scores gave us confidence as Daz was doing well and the triples and Pairs were winning, next few ends we all played well as a team with Gogs playing some fantastic bowls but hats off to John Urquhart my man of the match played Brilliant, we only needed to play 15 ends & were 8 shots up looking across at the other scores triples well up, pairs well up, parky couldn’t make up enough shots to overturn our mammoth lead, Parkside skip concedes,
2 points to the Northern & a massive 7-2 Victory.
So the Northern win their 1st ever Top 10 Trophy
massive well done to all 10 players, super sub Gordon Wilson snr, and many thanks to our many members & supporters who turned up to support our Amazing Top 10 Superstars.
Lastly just to say a big thanks to our President for being there to pick up the big trophy , he was very emotional in the aftermath of our win & in a quiet moment after the presentation Jim being the quiet laid back we soul that he is told me that from his elevation to the 1st 16s helping them win the league & now this today, his words ” it’s all about me Gaz, I made all of this happen , because of my Presidential influence on the club ” i’ll let you all come to your own opinions on the Presidents mental state of mind,
