Ayr Tour 2019

The Boys met at Waverley Stn for the two hour journey to Ayr, arriving at Hotel Mercure. Getting the rooms sorted out then getting rid of the weary legs, so some went for a Spa, others went for a swim ( in Lager, Best, and others).The first game was the Bedroom pairs, at Ayr Indoor Club the oldest in Scotland. The eventual winners were Graham Flight and Davie Dewar,who beat Grant Young and Roy Campbell in the Final. The Winners giving there prizes to the Bar person which was a very good gesture. Friday saw the first game at Ayr Seafield,. the weather was not bad but just as we arrived the rain came on. President of the Club said that because the weather was not very promising we would play twelve ends. After 10 ends the weather changed from autum to winter and all came of the green frozen. Again The Winning Rink gave there winnings to the Club charity. this was followed by a very good buffet . Saturday the weather was ok the sun was shining as we all arrived at Prestwick Bowling Club (Midton Rd). Greeted by the President, and Members, on arrival we all settled down and got the stretching going ( arms with glasses).After the game a meal was provided by the club of Soup, and Beef Olives with trimmings which went down very well. After the speeches a Karaoke started with the Tourists giving it there best, from Elvis to Lena Martell. Taxi’s were ordered for nine pm, some were not happy at leaving the Club, but it was going to be Garry Harrison’s stag night, so it was back to hotel for a quick massage, and out on the Town. The host at the end of the night shouting for hughy Sunday saw our last game of the 2019 tour and it was at Crookmoss Bowling Club.Where we played fifteen ends and into the clubhouse for a meal of Roast Beef with trimmings. Followed by Karaoke till the Taxi’s came again at nine some members not happy bunnys. Monday saw the Tour come to a close, and some deciding to get an early train back to Edinburgh as the traffic would be busy when the planned arriving time was due. Saying all good byes to all who went this year, to those who had to travel by train it was Happy to Meet, Sorry to Part, here’s to the Next time.
